It Started With a Daughter's Love for Her Father

Our Story

Next Steps Family Services was inspired by a young woman named Eysis. For more than four years, I had the privilege of coaching Eysis as a wrestler. She became a district champion, state finalist, honor student, and one of the toughest young people I've ever met.

But her greatest challenge wasn't on the wrestling mat.

After a surgical complication left her father paralyzed, his health began to decline. During Eysis's senior year of high school, he developed sepsis while living in a nursing facility and was hospitalized in critical condition. As an 18-year-old daughter trying to help her father, Eysis quickly discovered a problem many families never think about until it's too late: the necessary documents were not in place. Without the proper legal authorizations, helping a loved one through medical and financial decisions becomes incredibly difficult.

Working together, we helped ensure the proper paperwork was completed so she could advocate for her father, participate in his care, and help move him closer to home.

That experience opened my eyes.

I realized that many families are unprepared for emergencies—not because they don't care, but because they don't know where to start. That's why Next Steps Family Services was created. Our mission is simple: help families prepare important documents, understand their options, and take the next step before a crisis happens. We believe every family deserves guidance, compassion, and peace of mind when it matters most.
